Diana Shaw was initiated into Reiki in 1994 as preparation for editing the book Principles of Reiki by her Reiki Master, Kajsa Krishni Borang, which sold over 100,000 copies and was translated into six languages. She later became the publishing advisor for Touch, the magazine of the Reiki Association. Through her work carried out for Touch, she became one of the founders of Connecting Reiki with Medicine.
To build on the work of Connecting Reiki with Medicine, Diana served on the board of the Reiki Healthcare Research Trust from 2020 to 2024. This non-profit organisation raises money to support evidence-based, peer reviewed research into Reiki in healthcare settings.
She then also joined the board of another organisation, Reiki Medic-Care, from 2023 to 2024. Founded at the start of the Covid pandemic, Reiki Medic-Care sent distant Reiki to doctors, nurses and paramedics under stress.
When not working in Reiki, Diana is a digital editorial manager at the British Red Cross and has worked in communications for many other charities. This has supported her work with Connecting Reiki with Medicine, the Reiki Healthcare Research Trust and Reiki Medic-Care to help share their messages, raise money and awareness, and build partnerships.
