Mind Body Spirit Festival

Bringing Reiki to Hundreds of People

The UK Reiki Federation attended this year’s Mind Body Spirit Festival with one clear aim: to introduce as many people as possible to Reiki and help raise awareness of the benefits of this gentle yet powerful practice.

Over four wonderful days at Olympia London, we had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of visitors, answer questions about Reiki, and offer people the chance to experience Reiki for themselves. The response exceeded all our expectations.

A 4-Day Weekend Full of Conversation, Curiosity and Connection

From the moment the doors opened each morning until the close of the day, the UK Reiki Federation stand was buzzing with activity.

Visitors stopped by to learn more about Reiki, share their own experiences, ask questions about training and professional practice, and discover how Reiki might support their wellbeing. Some had heard of Reiki but never experienced it, while others were completely new to the practice and curious to find out more.

We also welcomed many Reiki practitioners to the stand, including existing UKRF members and those interested in learning more about the Federation and the support we provide to the Reiki community.

More Than 400 Reiki Treatments

One of the highlights of the event was being able to offer free Reiki taster sessions throughout the festival. By the end of the four days, our volunteer practitioners had delivered an incredible 405 Reiki treatments to 374 individuals.

While the numbers are impressive, what mattered most were the people behind them.

For many visitors, this was their very first experience of Reiki. Watching people leave their sessions feeling relaxed, uplifted, thoughtful, and often eager to learn more was a wonderful reminder of the value of direct experience.

Reiki is something that can be difficult to explain fully in words. Often, the best way to understand it is simply to experience it.

The Power of Our Reiki Community

None of this would have been possible without the dedication and generosity of our volunteer team.

Across the festival, 26 Reiki practitioners and supporters gave their time to represent the UK Reiki Federation. Throughout the event, multiple practitioners were offering treatments simultaneously, ensuring that as many visitors as possible could experience Reiki first-hand.

Their professionalism, warmth, and commitment created a welcoming and supportive space for everyone who visited the stand. The festival was also a wonderful opportunity for members of the UK Reiki Federation to connect with us in person. Many stopped by to say hello, share their experiences, and express their appreciation for seeing the Federation represented at one of the UK’s largest wellbeing events. These conversations were every bit as valuable as those we had with first-time visitors.

Welcoming Friends from Across the Reiki Community

One of the great pleasures of the Mind Body Spirit Festival was the opportunity to connect with Reiki practitioners and teachers from across the UK and beyond.

We were especially delighted to welcome Nico Michielsen, President of the Dutch Reiki Association, who travelled from the Netherlands to spend time with us, and give Reiki treatments during the event. It was wonderful to strengthen the connections between our organisations and celebrate our shared commitment to supporting Reiki practitioners and promoting high standards within the Reiki community.

The festival also provided a welcome opportunity to meet face-to-face with several familiar members of the UK Reiki Federation family. Among those joining us were two of our much-loved event hosts, Karen Tulloch and Alexandra de Angelis, both of whom contribute regularly to our programme of online events and educational offerings. It was a pleasure to have them with us and to introduce them to many visitors attending the show.

Working Together with Our Professional Partners

The Mind Body Spirit Festival also provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the strong relationships that help support Reiki practitioners throughout the UK. The UK Reiki Federation was delighted to be joined by representatives from two of our long-standing professional partners, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and Balens.

We were particularly pleased to welcome Joanne Shaw, Chief Executive of the CNHC, who spent time at the stand speaking with visitors and practitioners about the importance of professional standards, public confidence, and voluntary registration within complementary healthcare.

Joining her was Sam Thodhlana from the CNHC, who was also on hand throughout the event, engaging with visitors and helping to answer questions about the role the CNHC plays in supporting both practitioners and the public.

Representing Balens, Katie Thomas (pictured far right) spent time at the stand meeting visitors, discussing practitioner insurance, and sharing information about the specialist support available to Reiki professionals and complementary therapists. Their presence reinforced the collaborative approach that exists across the complementary healthcare sector.

Throughout the festival, visitors had the opportunity not only to experience Reiki, but also to learn more about the professional organisations, standards, and support networks that help practitioners develop and maintain successful, ethical practices.

We are grateful to Joanne, Sam, and Katie for their time, enthusiasm, and support, and for helping us demonstrate the strength of the wider professional community that stands behind Reiki practice in the UK.

The stand was also honoured to be supported by renowned Reiki Master Teacher and author Torsten A. Lange. Throughout the festival, Torsten generously offered Reiki treatments to visitors, sharing his experience and calm presence with many people who visited our stand.

Some of Torsten’s students took the opportunity to stop by and say hello, while readers of his books were delighted to meet him in person. There was even time for a few book signings, with several visitors purchasing copies from the stand and receiving a personal autograph.

Moments like these helped create a wonderful sense of community throughout the event, bringing together practitioners, students, teachers and newcomers in a shared celebration of Reiki.

Looking Ahead

While we are delighted by the number of treatments delivered and the many conversations we shared, the true success of the event lies elsewhere.

The Mind Body Spirit Festival gave us an opportunity to raise awareness of Reiki, introduce new people to the practice, and strengthen connections within the wider Reiki community.

Every question asked, every conversation held, and every person who experienced Reiki for the first time contributed to that goal.

To everyone who visited our stand, received a treatment, asked a question, or volunteered their time, thank you.

The connections made, conversations shared, and experiences created during the festival will continue long after the event has ended – and we are excited about what comes next for the UK Reiki Federation and the whole Reiki community.

We look forward to continuing to share Reiki with even more people in the future.
