You may have read the blog last month about my plans to run the Sheffield City 10k on October 13th for the UK Reiki Federation, to raise funds towards setting up an Animal Reiki Research project.

We are not aware of anyone having compiled studies measuring the effects of Reiki on animals and science backing is vital if Reiki is ever to be accepted by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and hence welcomed by the majority of the vets. Vets were advised by RCVS late 2017 that they are not expected to carry out complementary therapies that are not backed by scientific evidence. This includes Reiki and has far-reaching implications. Gaining sufficient robust evidence will be a long-term project but through funds raised from this activity, I hope at least to get the ball rolling

The morning of the run was wet and muddy. In fact, it rained non-stop, but I DID IT! I completed the run thinking all the way round about how wonderful it would be for all animals to have the opportunity to benefit from Reiki. This kept me going and digging deeper to finishing in 54 minutes and 3 seconds …a personal best! But the best news is that £560 has very kindly been donated by our Committee members, our wider members, friends, a Reiki share, and other kind animal lovers.

This is just the start but from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone who sponsored me and thanks also to everyone who has supported this run in other ways too.

The next step is to plan the first phase of activity with our research team and we’ll keep you updated with progress.
