On Monday 23 March the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced stricter measures to help to prevent the continuing spread of coronavirus. We must all stay at home and only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home).

In the light of this announcement you must cease face to face therapies (that is, those that require simultaneous physical presence) with immediate effect. CNHC appreciate the impact this will have on livelihoods, but we support the Government’s decision as it is the right thing to do to assist in stemming the spread of coronavirus which can be transmitted by those who do not develop any symptoms.

For those of you whose therapeutic practices allow it, you should look at the viability of delivering therapies to clients without simultaneous physical presence, for example, by using electronic communications and video links. I know that some of your professional associations are providing specific advice and examples of this approach.
