Department of Health and Social Care publish new report
On Monday 5 November, the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) published a new report ‘Prevention is better than cure‘ which outlines the government’s vision for stopping health problems before they arise and to support people to manage their health problems when they do arise.
Their goal is to improve healthy life expectancy by at least 5 extra years, aiming to close the gap between the number of healthy years lived among the richest and poorest. This discrepancy was highlighted in the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) and Professional Standards Authority (PSA) ‘Untapped Resources‘ report, which emphasised that practitioners on Accredited Registers are well placed to play a part in improving the nation’s health.
