CNHC JAN DEC 2024 UPDATE

Happy Christmas from CNHC

CNHC’s Board and staff team wish you a happy and restful Christmas break and all the best for 2025.

The CNHC office will be closed from 5pm on Monday 23 December 2024 and reopen on Thursday 2 January 2025.

CNHC advertising in the press

To spread greater public awareness of CNHC’s Accredited Register and how to choose a complementary healthcare practitioner safely, we have placed advertorials in The Standard ‘Christmas in the Capital’ supplement on 28 November 2024 and The Guardian ‘New Year, New You’ supplement on 4 January 2025, as well as an editorial mention in the Telegraph ‘New Year New Beginnings’ supplement on 8 January 2025.

NHS Open Space

NHS Open Space provides access to treatment and consulting rooms in England from NHS partners. As practitioners on an Accredited Register. CNHC registrants are able to hire these workspaces.

You can register for a free account and will then be able to book rooms, paying for the type of room and time you need.

Advertising guidance for CNHC registrants

All CNHC registrants must comply with the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Non-Broadcast Code.

To help our registrants with compliance we have produced guidance on advertising. Please read it in full and use it as a resource to check the content of your website and other forms of marketing. We recommend that all CNHC registrants use the wording for their discipline that we have agreed with CAP. The discipline descriptors can be found here.

Please read the guidance in full and use it as a resource to check the content of your website and other forms of marketing.

We have produced specific guidance about advertising in relation to the Cancer Act 1939 which you should also read carefully.

Increase in CNHC registration and renewal fees

With effect from 1 January 2025 the CNHC initial registration fee and annual renewal fee will increase by £5 to £75. Anyone completing their registration or renewal up to midnight on 31 December 2024 will be able to register at the current rate of £70.

This is the first increase since 2019 as we held our fees to support registrants during the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis that followed.

The fee for registration of additional disciplines will remain unchanged at £10 per discipline (to a maximum of four, after which it is free) and the fee for renewal of additional disciplines will remain unchanged at £5 per discipline (to a maximum of four, after which it is free).

Please note that you can only renew your registration one month in advance. For example, if your registration is due for renewal on 1 March 2025 you can renew from 1 February 2025.

Discount for CNHC registrants

CNHC are pleased to be supporting the Integrative and Personalised Medicine Congress (IPM) for a fourth year. This year’s Congress takes place on 19 to 21 June 2025 at the QEII Centre in London.

If you are a CNHC registrant, you can claim a 20 per cent discount on the early bird conference fee if you book by 4 April 2025. As well as entrance to the conferences you will have free access to the workshops and exhibition. It’s your chance to attend the largest meeting of integrative, functional, lifestyle, complementary and holistic doctors, nutritionists and practitioners focusing on whole-person, patient centred health.

To take advantage of this discounted fee, you must quote the CNHC promotional code when booking your place, which you can find in the “Resources” section of MyCNHC.

Retention period for client records

Did you know that the CNHC Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performances specifies the period for which CNHC registrants should retain client records? Section B.8 on Safekeeping of Client Records states:
“You must keep client records safely and in good condition for eight years from the date of the client’s last visit to you…”

The eight years requirement is in line with the requirement for general NHS hospital records and other forms of health records and we use this because we are seeking greater integration of complementary therapies with the NHS.

If the client is a child, records must be retained until their 25th birthday, or 26th birthday if the client was 17 when the treatment ended.
