CORRECTION – FURTHER TO THE CNHC EMAIL WE SENT YOU ON FRIDAY……..
COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY PRACTICES IN SCOTLAND TO REMAIN CLOSED

In our email to you on Friday we stated that Registrants in Scotland could return to work on 22 July. This is because the Scottish Government announced that beauticians could return to work on that date. In all other countries in the UK, beauticians and beauty salons have been used as the example for close contact services.

However, the Scottish Government’s announcement, in contrast to announcements made by the UK Government relating to England, the Northern Ireland Executive and the Welsh Government, made no mention of other close contact services being able to reopen.

Thank you to all our Registrants who brought this to our attention and please accept our sincere apologies for any confusion caused.

Please find below the email we sent with amended text in red….

Dear Registrant

Further to our previous email on returning to working ‘hands-on’ in England, we are writing to update you on devolved governments’ announcements for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Northern Ireland

In case you missed our email sent on 7 July, we can confirm that face to face and ‘hands-on’ therapies resumed in Northern Ireland w/b 6 July.

Scotland

Practices providing face to face therapies can reopen on 15 July.

Personal retail services such as beauticians can re-open on 22 July but, unlike other countries in the UK, no mention has been made of other close contact services being able to reopen in the Scottish Government’s outline of key dates. Until we hear further from the Scottish Government about other close contact services, CNHC’s advice remains that “hands-on” therapist in Scotland cannot return to work.

Wales

The Welsh Government announced yesterday that practices providing face to face therapies can reopen on 13 July and close contact services providing ‘hands-on’ therapies can provisionally reopen on 27 July.

What does this mean for CNHC Registrants?

You can return to work on the date applicable to you, provided that you have:

  • full infection control measures in place
  • confirmation that you are covered by your Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • comply with any local lockdown restrictions imposed in your area

CNHC guidance on preparing to return to work can be found here.
