Addaction Brent

Reiki Volunteer

Addaction Brent is a community drug and alcohol project, and it is a registered charity. We offer an open access drop-in, access to prescribing, a needle exchange, a young peoples’ service, 1:1 keyworking and complementary therapies. We are looking for a volunteer Reiki practitioner to offer sessions on a Tuesday morning or afternoon, Thursday afternoon or Friday afternoon.

This would be an ideal placement for someone wanting to gain experience or refresh their practice. The applicant should have Reiki I and II, full professional indemnity insurance and be a member of a professional Reiki organisation such as the Reiki Federation.

Part time – 14 hours per week

We are seeking a motivated practitioner to join our complementary therapy team which offers aromatherapy, healing, massage, reflexology and counselling to our patients.

The successful candidate will hold a Reiki Master/Teacher Certificate via the Usui system with two years post certificate clinical /cancer patient experience within a hospital setting or Hold a National Federation of Spiritual Healers Certificate with 2 years post certificate clinical experience within a hospital setting.

The team works in the largest Haematology Unit in the UK, helping to provide holistic care to patients with diseases such as leukaemia and lymphoma including patients undergoing intensive bone marrow transplants. Expansion of our service means that we will now be working with oncology patients within cancer services.

You will need to be a team player who would relish working in such an acute and psychologically demanding environment. You will work closely with the nursing and medical teams in the support of patients. Candidates will be required to have appropriate memberships and insurance in your area of expertise.

Volunteers wanted - Birmingham

Freshwinds is a charity in Birmingham offering complementary therapies to adults and children with life threatening and life limiting illnesses. We are well recognised and respected for this work, as evidenced by the referrals we get from a variety of health care professionals / organisations. We follow an Integrated Medicine model of care -- safely combining the complementary therapies with the conventional treatments the person is already receiving.

We rely on qualified volunteer therapists to provide this valuable service. Patient care is co-ordinated by Medical Officers within the charity. In return for their valued commitment, volunteer therapists have access to regular therapists meetings, which include a training/education component. Sometimes we also organise workshops for the therapists to aid in their continued professional development. The therapists also find it a rewarding and developing experience working in a multidisciplinary team with other therapists and medical officers, sharing knowledge and enhancing skills.
