The UK Reiki Federation
Education
Since 1999 The UK Reiki Federation has worked extensively on promoting Reiki and best practice for practitioners, with UK Reiki Federation representatives having been continuously involved with the various groups which have been working on revised standards for training of professional practitioners, over many years. One of the aims in promoting good practice is to improve the acceptance of Reiki as a viable tool to be used within the NHS, and via its CPD courses the UK Reiki Federation is able to offer guidance to its members.
Following consultation in 2007/2008, a revision of the National Occupational Standards for Complementary and Natural Healthcare was carried out, and in 2009 the finally approved standards were published. Full details of the standards are available through Skills for Health, whose website is www.skillsforhealth.org.uk. Further information, and copy of the standards, is given on the page on National Occupational Standards (NOS).
The Education Team of the UK Reiki Federation is made up of individuals who are not only qualified Reiki Teachers, but the majority also hold either formal Teacher Qualifications or Assessor Qualifications, or both.
UK Reiki Federation Approved Courses
The UK Reiki Federation is happy to highlight courses offered by their teacher members, which, in their opinion, are appropriate for training purposes. The directory includes courses which are suitable for either professional practitioner training or CPD (Continuing & Professional Development).
Accredited Reiki Qualifications
QCA (Qualifications Curriculum Authority) and OfQual (regulator for qualifications) approved a new Reiki Diploma in late 2010, which is now offered by a number of Awarding Bodies, including VTCT and ITEC:
- Level 3 Diploma in Reiki (QCF) 2011. Guided learning hours 360-390.

Checking your own Reiki Training
The UK Reiki Federation is able to provide a review of a practitioner’s existing training against the 2009 National Occupational Standards for Reiki and the recommendations of the Reiki Council. The UK Reiki Federation will arrange for a qualified Assessor to evaluate the training and experience of the practitioner and either provide confirmation that the training meets recommendations, or will provide the practitioner with a Review & Action Plan of additional items to be covered. The individual is then responsible for completing any recommended actions. For further details and application form, please download:
