Contact form usage
Notice from UK Reiki Federation website noticeboard, October 2006:
"Some practitioners have brought to our attention the fact that they have received enquiries from individuals via this website pretending to be genuine clients whereas in fact the enquiries turned out to be part of a scheme to steal money. Typically the practitioner is sent a large cheque from overseas (often Nigeria) from someone who appears to be a genuine client and asked to present it and then pay a proportion of it from their own account to (for example) a "cousin" of the sender in the UK. The cheque turns out to be stolen and is later cancelled and the practitioner's account debited for the whole amount, even though the cheque apparently 'clears'.
"Fortunately in the instances we have heard about the member spotted the nature of the transaction in time. However please be aware of these sorts of approaches and treat them with extreme caution."
No public contact form is perfect, but a more secure version has since been put in place, to reduce the opportunities for abuse by 'form-spammers'. All members are asked to be vigilant, and to forward messages about which they have their suspicions to the UK Reiki Federation administration office.

- Website access statistics are always only a very rough indication of trends, since there are many ways of quoting and interpreting them. We have chosen to use "number of pages successfully served", which is one of the many definitions people use for site-wide 'hits'. (Note that, in common with the majority of sites quoting such measures, our figures include the activitiy of search engines such as Google 'spidering' the site! However, the effects of other unwelcome spider attacks have been removed where detected.)
- Figures for August 2005 (and cumulative figures for any period of a year that includes that month) have been reduced to take account of extremely heavy development traffic during the rebuilding of the Practitioner & Teacher list during that month.
- Discontinuity - the substantial increase from August to October is primarily in access to new Practitioner & Teacher list - partly because it works in a different way, and partly because of a marketing campaign among members to encourage checking of their own entries.
- Very approximate, due to server logging error.
